Last quarter sale of cherished number plates

The last quarter of the calendar year normally accounts for more than twenty five per cent of the years sales of cherished number plates. This is due to several factors. Firstly normal registrations change in MArch and September each year and this generates two spikes in demand. Secondly the next issue of registration numbers is put on sale in advance, so next March’s numbers ( in this case 10 ) go on sale in Decmber 2009. Last but not least is the Christmas effect. Every year they become more popular as gifts as prices come down in real terms and transfers become easier.
